At the Dubuque Dream Center, we envision a community in which all our children have the resources and support to realize their dreams.

The 2019 Iowa School Performance profile reported that 50% of DCSD low-income students were proficient in reading and 52 percent were proficient in math and there is a greater gap in proficiency for African-American students. Only 33% of DCSD African American students were proficient in reading and 34% in math.

We need the community’s help in making sure every child has the support they need to reach their goals. Together, WE CAN, Impact Youth, Strengthen Families, and Build Community.

The National Mentoring Partnership, students who meet regularly with their mentors are 52% less likely than their peers to skip a day of school and 37% less likely to skip a class (Public/Private Ventures study of Big Brothers Big Sisters).

Right now, there are children in Dubuque experience hunger and food insecurity – causing struggles in learning, well-being, and behavior that last a lifetime.

Right now, there are children in Dubuque lack the direct support, character building enrichment, and extra guidance they need to realize their own worth and potential.

At the Dream Center, we believe that Dubuque is the kind of community that believes in the future of the dreams of all our children.

Since 2013, the Dream Center has grown from serving 15 students to 190. Not only do students receive round-the-clock in your life mentoring and support from the Dream Center, school and parents, they participate in athletic and arts programming that provides enrichment and incentives to succeed.

From serving 43,000 meals/snacks a year, to investing thousands of hours into each of our students, the Dream Center is positively transforming lives.

The Dream Center received its license as a childcare in 2022. Families that are low income and meet DHS criteria, receive child care assistance from the state of Iowa to cover their student fees. There are also families that are able to afford some or all of their student fees. However, the vast majority of our families do not qualify for child care assistance and cannot afford to pay the fees associated for their students to attend our programming. THESE are the students that need your help!

We are asking you to become a Dream Maker!
